UK-based consumer electronics distributor Widget has struck a deal to push Fitbit products to its retail channel partners. Fitbit is a supplier of activity tracker that synchronises user information to a personal web profile on www.fitbit.com. Widget will make Fitbit products available to UK retailers from January 2012 onwards.

Fitbit claims that it is America’s fastest growing fitness and wellbeing brand. The Fitbit Ultra aims to help those looking to get fitter to monitor their daily activity and to remain motivated. Fitbit has sold thousands of trackers since 2010 and its business quadrupled in 2011 alone.

Trade only distributor Widget plans to wholesale the product to carefully selected launch partners including Amazon.co.uk, Play.com and Firebox. Mark Needham, chairman at Widget, first encountered Fitbit during a’Fresh’ new technology showcase session held during a DISTREE event.
